Poor Lavender. The grandpa really hasn't grasped what being transgender means yet.
My extended family still refers to me as female and I'm always lumped in with my sisters as "you girls", even though I came out in 2017. I feel more forgiving over name slip-ups, since I don;t see extended family all that much and after almost 40 years, a name change is tough. But sometimes extended family is just oblivious. It's not really excusable, they just aren't mindful of it in the same way my immediate family is. Grandpa could be doing it on purpose, or he might not be. We have to wait and see.
The problem with grandparents is that they have the old mentality which can cause rifts. I am a born woman and always identified as a woman, but I faced other issues. My parents really wanted me to only have friends who were Greek so I wouldn't "lose my identity", but we live in Canada and I was born and raised there. How do you only hang out with Greeks, when you live in a multicultural society? They aren't like that anymore and have opened their minds significantly over the years.
I Really Like All the Comments I have been getting. I enjoy drawing Lavender each week and every time I get a comment, I know that someone is reading them.
Thank You :)
