I only ask to be informed, but isn’t the transition operation rough? I heard that it involves a lot of work.

Yes it involves 3-6 months living as the gender you want to be before you can even get hormones, 1 year on hormone replacement therapy and then being on waiting lists for surgery. Plus the money involved if you don't look feminine or masculine enough and have to go through facial surgery etc. There's a lot of surgeries out there that some do. Luckily some insurance companies will pay for it.

Ah. That all makes sense and I understand why Lavender's mother isn't letting her get the surgery this young. It could be very hard on a child's body, so for health reasons, it's safer for her to wait until her body is stronger. Such a process sounds traumatizing even when you want it.
